Ivan Leider is the Director of Engineering at L+R, where he leads the engineering teams responsible for L+R's spatial computing, mobile, and emerging technology practices. With a career in mobile development stretching back to the launch of the App Store in 2008, Leider has overseen the development of cross-functional applications used by millions of people worldwide. He was selected to represent L+R at Apple's invitation-only Vision Pro Developer Labs in London and has been featured by Meta in coverage of L+R's spatial computing work, including the Media View project launched at Meta Connect. He has spoken publicly on XR readiness, the future of human-computer interaction, and the role of pragmatic engineering in bringing emerging technology to mainstream adoption.

RodCone: Building the Universal Infrastructure for Smart Glasses Apps

Meta shipped millions of Ray-Ban smart glasses. Google, Samsung, and Apple are next. But building apps for AI glasses today means wrestling with raw device toolkits, native-only APIs, and custom media pipelines — for each OEM. We started building smart glasses apps two years ago, and quickly realized we were rebuilding the same infrastructure every time: camera access, real-time video relay, audio routing, AI processing. So we built RodCone — a cross-platform SDK and managed cloud that abstracts hardware complexity into a single multi-platform component. Drop in a view, select "glasses" as your source, and start handling multimodal AI events. This talk covers the architecture behind RodCone: how we designed a hardware abstraction layer that works across Meta (and soon Google) glasses, the managed Intelligence Cloud for video ingestion and AI processing, and the lessons learned going from agency project to developer platform.
