Ali Ebrahimi Pourasad
Indie Developer & Doctoral Candidate

I’m Ali, an indie developer and researcher who has been building iOS apps since 2017. Together with my girlfriend and co-founder Anna, I build Bubbles’ Journal, an iPad journaling app crafted with a strong focus on detail, playfulness and user experience. Bubbles’ Journal has been featured on the App Store and is loved by its users, with over 3,000 reviews and an average rating of 4.8.
Alongside indie development, I am finishing my PhD in Empirical Software Engineering, where my research focuses on the thing I am most passionate about: apps & UX.
Noteworthy to mention: I freaking love video games 👾 So hit me up for a chitchat about all of these topics 😁
What AI Can’t Do: Creating F***ing Awesome User Experiences
AI can now generate apps in minutes. But if everyone can build something “good enough,” how do we create apps that still stand out?
This talk explores what AI cannot replace: care, creativity and the love for tiny details. Using design choices from our iPad journaling app Bubbles’ Journal, I will show how playful interactions, thoughtful animations and unexpected user experiences can make an app feel alive.
I hope to inspire you to build apps that feel personal and joyful, while feeling less anxious about AI taking over our role, because in the age of AI, “good enough” is no longer enough.
