Peter Bergner is a Senior Game Developer at Starberry Games and a 15-year veteran who's shipped on just about everything - mobile, PC, console, and VR, from Studio Fizbin's narrative adventure Minute of Islands to blockchain esports to digital board games. A serious anime, manga, and gacha fan, he's run the games area of a 20,000-visitor anime convention and consulted on a Japanese gacha title. His running obsession: the tools and workflows that let a small team out-ship a much bigger one.
Assembling the Party: Leveling Up Game Dev with AI Agents
Over the past months I built an entire AI workflow around our Unity codebase - a custom persona, a stack of skills, several agents, full multi-agent pipelines and then deleted most of it. What survived made me faster than all of it combined.
This is the story of that workflow: what it actually takes to go from writing every line yourself to directing the work, on a real Unity/C# production codebase at Starberry. The result isn't a magic robot that replaces you - it's a "party" of prompts, skills, and agents you assemble around your own needs, letting you ship like a bigger team and spend your judgment on what to build instead of grinding out every line of how.
No hype, no perfect demos - including the parts where I over-built it and had to cut back.
