Kathy Tafel

Technical Director, TALES Kollektiv
greg-fawson-foto.1024x1024 Kopie.jpg

Currently guiding software development as Technical Director at TALES Kollektiv, Kathy Tafel has lived at the intersection of technology, marketing, and consumer software since she understood the distinction. She previously led content and software teams at Apple, Meetup, Native Instruments, and Artsy, bringing Silicon Valley and Alley know-how to Germany’s Allees. A native of California, she made a brief stay in Brooklyn before settling in Berlin where she lives in Kreuzberg with her family (and a cat). She enjoys skewing mascots out of crochet when not examining and breaking down the barriers in technology which prevent the highest expression of the individual.

Showcasing Unity games with WebGPU: Lessons from the real world

Is WebGPU ready for primetime? We share real-world lessons from publishing a preview of World of Us, our Unity based open world game for children aged 8-10, directly in the browser. Learn what worked, what surprised us, and what we’d do differently as we rethought the first-time user experience from traditional client download to instant web experience server.

We’ll cover Unity template export, Terraform web architecture, localization strategies, Grafana analytics, and marketing integrations such as email capture. Whether you are a game developer, XR creator, or part of a DevOps team, you’ll leave with practical insights, pitfalls to avoid, and what it takes to ship a future-ready Unity experience on the Web without being afraid of a little MarTech.
