Philipp is a Braunschweig-based software engineer who has spent his career bridging the gap between cutting-edge mobile architecture and the automotive world. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Braunschweig, where he laid the foundation for his deep technical expertise.
Philipp began his professional career in IT consulting, specializing in the development of native iOS and Android applications within the automotive sector. During this time, he also stepped into the Google Developer Group (GDG) Organizer role in Braunschweig, a community initiative he continues to drive today.
His consultancy background paved the way for a transition directly to Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge (Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles), where he initially focused on enterprise-level fleet management software as a frontend engineer specializing in Angular.
Driven by a passion for creating impactful user experiences, Philipp currently serves as a core developer for the California App. In this role, he designs and implements the digital ecosystem that powers VW Camper Cars, delivering unique, seamless smart-companion experiences for outdoor enthusiasts and modern travelers.

AppFunctions in a KMP App - Plan your next Camping Trip with an Agent
Planning your next camping trip with a traditional search can be painful, you have to search on multiple camping provider pages, multiple apps and then finally talk to the campsite owner and book via mail. What if an agent could do the hard work for you?
In this session I want to give a real world example how to use Android AppFunctions and make your app functionality controllable by an agent. Agentic user interfaces are becoming more important so that agents can use several tools to work on complex tasks and use multiple data sources to get to a goal faster and more accurate.
We will explore:
- What is MCP and AppFunctions (remote data vs. local on-device capability)
- How can you easily write your first AppFunction (by a SKILL or on your own)
- How to architect your app so it can seamlessly collaborate with other ecosystem apps via an orchestrator
- Security concerns: protect your users from accidentally share data with an Agent (preventing a €500 accidental booking)
