Native Mobile and AI

Native mobile development means building the same app twice, once per platform. Historically, teams faced a tradeoff: two native codebases for the best experience, or a cross-platform framework and its compromises. Frontier LLMs change that equation. Modern models and agents can now analyze and translate app code between platforms—turning what was a costly duplication into an engineering problem.
This talk explores what that shift means for native mobile. We've all heard the AI takes, from "pure hype" to "devs are obsolete." This isn't that talk, though we'll touch on it. Instead, we'll focus on why native mobile is uniquely positioned: it's critical to most products, dominated by two platforms, and usually delivered natively for the best user experience.
