Beyond the Alt-Tag: Shipping Accessible Web Apps in the Age of AI
Accessibility is often treated as a final "coat of paint", a checklist applied just before shipping. However, as AI-assisted coding increases development velocity, the risk of scaling inaccessible patterns grows exponentially. This session shifts the perspective from reactive fixing to proactive, AI-enhanced inclusive design.
We will explore why accessibility is the essential infrastructure for the "Agentic Web." Because AI agents navigate the digital world using the same semantic markers as screen readers, an inaccessible site is effectively invisible to future AI users. Attendees will learn to integrate WCAG standards directly into React workflows and discover a "30-minute sprint" strategy to move any site from broken to functional. We’ll move beyond the "Alt-tag" and discuss how to build a machine-readable web that is inclusive of both humans and agents.
